Longmont at a glance
The Census Bureau counts about 99,400 Longmont residents, with a median age of 40.3 and 18.6% aged 65 or older, about 18,500 people. Median household income is about $90,700. The State Demography Office puts all but about 1,300 Longmont residents in Boulder County; the rest live in a Weld County part of the city.
Most Longmont addresses use the Boulder County plan list for 2027; a Weld County address uses the Weld list. Two Longmont hospitals appear in the CMS file: Longs Peak Hospital on East Ken Pratt Boulevard (5 out of 5) and Longmont United Hospital on Mountain View Avenue (3 out of 5).

Where can I take a Medicare class in Longmont?
Start at Longmont Senior Services, 910 Longs Peak Avenue, (303) 651-8411. The city’s resource education classes include Medicare Basics, Social Security 101, Long-Term Care Options and Long-Term Care Financial Planning.
A class gives you the general rules; the plan choice depends on your own doctors, prescriptions and hospital. For that, Lisa reviews your options free and with no obligation, by phone or video, and you can also compare plans on Medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).
What should I bring when I compare plans for 2027?
Whichever door you walk through, the comparison goes faster with your ANOC letter, your Medicare card, a list of your prescriptions with doses, and the names of your doctors. In Longmont, add one more line: which hospital you would use. Longs Peak Hospital on East Ken Pratt Boulevard and Longmont United Hospital on Mountain View Avenue are both in town, and a Medicare Advantage network can include one, both or neither. Original Medicare with a Medigap policy lets you use either one, as long as it accepts Medicare.
Lisa works with Longmont clients by phone or video. She can review your ANOC with you before or after a class at the senior center, so you hear the general overview and then see the actual plans that fit your list. If your address is in the small Weld County part of the city, the city points Weld County residents to 970-346-6952 for aging resources, and your plan list is the Weld County list.
What else does Longmont Senior Services do that affects my coverage?
The Longmont Senior Program was founded in 1972 with Older Americans Act funds, and the senior center opened in 1976. Today the center is owned, funded and operated by the City of Longmont. Beyond classes, its staff give referrals on housing, help in the home and healthcare, help completing forms, and help navigating Medicaid and Social Security. The center also offers a money management program, income tax assistance, and Longmont Meals on Wheels.
The long-term care classes connect directly to insurance. Medicare.gov lists what Original Medicare does not cover, including non-medical long-term care, most dental care and dentures, vision exams for prescription glasses, and hearing aids. If those gaps worry you, a Longmont class is a good first step, and Lisa can then walk you through dental, vision, hospital indemnity and short-term care policies, which are separate from your Medicare plan.
Can someone in Longmont get help paying Medicare costs?
Yes, if your income and savings are limited. Colorado’s Medicare Savings Programs are applied for through your county Department of Human Services, and Boulder County Human Services has a Longmont office at 515 Coffman Street (303-441-1000). The Boulder County Area Agency on Aging describes the tiers this way: the Qualified Medicare Beneficiary program (QMB) pays the Part B premium and takes the place of a Medicare supplement for copays, deductibles and coinsurance, while SLMB and QI-1 pay the Part B premium. All three include automatic eligibility for Extra Help with Part D drug costs.
This changes the plan decision. Someone who qualifies for QMB usually does not need to buy a Medigap policy, and may be able to look at plans designed for people with both Medicare and Health First Colorado. Lisa checks that before recommending anything.

How the figures are derived
- Headline plan counts and averages exclude Special Needs Plans, which have their own eligibility rules and are reported separately.
- "$0 Part C premium" counts plans whose Part C premium is $0. "$0 combined monthly premium for Parts C and D" counts plans whose consolidated Part C + D premium is $0 (for a plan without drug coverage, its Part C premium); our guides and blog use this second count. Out-of-pocket limits are in-network amounts. The average Part D deductible covers plans with drug coverage only.
- The 2026 to 2027 comparison counts Medicare Advantage plans with drug coverage, Special Needs Plans included, and its "$0" row uses the combined Part C + D premium, so it differs from the headline count.
- When the CMS crosswalk ends a plan with no successor but the same company files a plan with the same or a similar name under a new plan ID, we say so; members are not moved into the new ID automatically.
- We do not publish per-plan enrollment: the source does not carry it, and we never estimate plan figures.
