Brighton at a glance
The Census Bureau counts about 42,000 Brighton residents, and roughly 4,200 of them are 65 or older. Median household income is about $107,700, and 10.1% of residents have no health insurance, compared with 7.7% across Colorado.
Brighton is the county seat of Adams County, and almost all of the city lies in Adams County, so most Brighton addresses choose from the Adams County plan list for 2027. A small part of the city, about 460 residents in the State Demography Office estimates, sits in Weld County, and those addresses use the Weld County list instead. Intermountain Health Platte Valley Hospital at 1600 Prairie Center Parkway is the Brighton hospital in the CMS file. A plan that suits you keeps the doctors and the hospital you already use, so that is the first thing Lisa checks.
How Lisa helps here. Brighton is home. Sit down with Lisa Asmussen at the Brighton office, or meet by phone or video if that is easier. She asks questions, listens to your answers, and only then recommends the type of plan that fits, and she is still here after you enroll when a bill or a letter needs explaining.
10.1% of Brighton residents are 65 or older, against 15.6% for Colorado, and 10.1% have no health insurance.

Where can I get free Medicare counseling in Brighton?
Start at the Sue Corbett Active Adult Center at Eagle View, the city senior center at 1150 Prairie Center Parkway. The city says a counselor from the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) comes to Eagle View every month, and the one-on-one help covers Medicare questions including Part D enrollment. Appointments are booked through the center at 303-655-2077, and the front desk is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 303-655-2075.
The same center runs an outreach and referral service for older adults who need help with forms, program applications or finding a service, and the Senior Advisory Board funds a small scholarship, the Friends Program Fund, for people who cannot cover program fees. The city also points Adams County residents with general Medicare questions to Benefits in Action, a nonprofit, at 720-221-8354, and lists Meals on Wheels Brighton for weekday meal delivery.
SHIP counselors are unbiased volunteers and staff; they do not sell plans. Lisa Asmussen is a licensed broker, so she can show you the plans she is contracted to offer and enroll you when you are ready. Many people use both: a counselor to understand the rules, and Lisa to compare actual plans against their doctors and prescriptions. You can always reach the statewide SHIP line at 888-696-7213.
How do Brighton seniors get to medical appointments without driving?
Brighton has two ride options the city spells out on its senior center pages. Via Mobility Services provides door-to-door rides within the City of Brighton for medical appointments, grocery shopping and trips to Eagle View, with advance reservations at 303-447-9636; rides to and from Eagle View are free for residents in the Via service area. RTD FlexRide also picks up and drops off anywhere within Brighton on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the local bus fare, booked at 303-299-6000.
That matters when you compare plans. A plan only helps if the doctors in its network are places you can actually reach. Eagle View and Intermountain Health Platte Valley Hospital sit on the same road, Prairie Center Parkway, and Salud Family Health runs a Brighton clinic at 1860 Egbert Street with its own pharmacy. If a Medicare Advantage plan would send you to specialists across the metro, think about how you would get there on a weekday, and check whether the plan lists a transportation benefit in its Evidence of Coverage.
- Write down the clinic, hospital and pharmacy you actually use in Brighton.
- Check each one against every plan you are considering for 2027.
- If you rely on Via or FlexRide, favor networks with in-network doctors inside the city.
Why is so much of Adams County government in Brighton?
Brighton has been the county seat for more than a century. Adams County says voters created the county in 1902 out of what had been a much larger Arapahoe County, and named it for former governor Alva Adams. The first county commissioners met in Brighton on December 4, 1902, and an election on November 8, 1904 made Brighton the permanent county seat. The courthouse built in 1906 at 4th and Bridge Street still stands and serves as Brighton City Hall.
Today the Adams County Government Center is at 4430 South Adams County Parkway, and Adams County Human Services keeps a Brighton Workforce and Business Center at 36 South 18th Avenue. Applications for Health First Colorado, the state Medicaid program, go through Adams County Human Services, which matters if you are weighing a Dual Special Needs Plan or help with Medicare costs through a Medicare Savings Program.
The Headwaters office is on South Fourth Avenue, a few blocks from City Hall, and Lisa meets Brighton clients there in person. Bring your Medicare card, your prescription list and any letters from Medicare, Social Security or Health First Colorado, and she will work through them with you.

How to read this table: each row is one plan on the Adams County list with a 2026 star rating of 4 or higher, sorted by rating and then by out-of-pocket limit. The type tells you the network rules, the Part C + D premium is monthly, the out-of-pocket limit is the most you pay in a year for covered in-network care, and the plan ID lets you find the exact plan on Medicare.gov. A high rating is a quality signal, not proof that your doctors or prescriptions are covered.
See every Adams County plan with premiums and limits, or compare plans for your ZIP code with the plan finder.
We do not offer every plan available in your area. Currently we represent 10 organizations which offer 106 products in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, or your local State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) to get information on all of your options.
Hospitals in Brighton
Medicare-certified hospitals in Brighton from the CMS Hospital General Information file, with the CMS overall star rating. A rating is not network status: check each hospital against a plan.
1 Medicare-certified hospital is listed; whether each is in a plan’s network is a separate question.

Adams County plans: 2026 to 2027
Your plan mailed an Annual Notice of Change by September 30, 2026. It lists what changes on January 1, 2027: premium, deductible, out-of-pocket limit, copays, drug list and network. Compare it line by line, or bring it to Lisa.
Counting plans with drug coverage, Special Needs Plans included, the Adams County list goes from 64 plans in 2026 to 59 in 2027, and the average in-network out-of-pocket limit moves from $6,497 to $7,199.
| Measure | 2026 | 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| Plans with drug coverage (SNPs included) | 64 | 59 |
| With a $0 combined monthly premium for Parts C and D | 38 | 43 |
| Average in-network out-of-pocket limit | $6,497 | $7,199 |
| Average Part D deductible | $404.69 | $510.90 |
| Maximum Part D deductible allowed by CMS | $615 | $700 |
| Part D out-of-pocket cap | $2,100 | $2,400 |
These counts cover plans with drug coverage, Special Needs Plans included, so they differ from the headline count of 36, which leaves out Special Needs Plans and includes plans without drug coverage. Clear Spring Health has no Medicare Advantage plan with drug coverage in Adams County for 2027.
8 plans on the 2026 Adams County list end with no similar plan in the county, including Select Health Medicare + Kroger (HMO), Select Health Medicare Flex (HMO), Select Health Medicare Active (HMO). 4 more plans end while the same company offers a plan with the same or a similar name under a new plan ID (HealthSpring TotalCare (HMO D-SNP), HealthSpring TotalCare Plus (HMO D-SNP), HealthSpring Preferred (HMO) and Aetna Medicare Signature (HMO-POS)). Members are not moved into the new plan automatically; to keep it, enroll in the new plan ID by December 7, 2026. The full list is on the Adams County guide.
If your plan is not renewing: you receive a non-renewal letter in October. You can pick a new plan during the Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 to December 7, 2026), and a Special Enrollment Period runs through the end of February 2027. Confirm your dates on Medicare.gov. The official Medicare & You handbook explains each option.
What is common in Brighton
Plan choice follows the conditions you actually live with, because they decide which specialists and drugs you need covered.
Compared with the Colorado county average, Brighton reads higher on diagnosed diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity and adults under 65 without insurance.

|---|---|---|---|
| Diagnosed diabetes | 9.6% | 9.7% | 8.6% |

| High cholesterol | 31.0% | 31.0% | 31.5% |
| Stroke | 2.7% | 2.6% | 2.7% |
CDC PLACES: Local Data for Better Health, Place Data, 2025 release (2023 survey estimates), retrieved 2026-10-14. Model-based small-area estimates of crude prevalence among adults 18 and over, not a count of local diagnoses. Crude rates follow the age mix of a place: an older community reads higher on most conditions. Colorado figure: average of the 64 Colorado counties, weighted by adult population.
Why this matters for plan choice
Brighton runs above the Colorado county average on diagnosed diabetes and high blood pressure. The chronic-condition Special Needs Plans on the Adams County list are built around: Cardiovascular Disorders; Chronic Heart Failure; Diabetes Mellitus. If you live with one of those, a C-SNP may be worth a look; you need a qualifying diagnosis to join.

Brighton Medicare questions
How many Medicare Advantage plans are available in Brighton for 2027?
Brighton uses the Adams County plan list for most addresses. It has 36 Medicare Advantage plans for 2027 (Special Needs Plans not included) from 10 organizations. Of those, 33 have a $0 Part C premium, and 30 have a $0 combined monthly premium for Parts C and D (25 of those include drug coverage; 5 have no drug coverage, so no Part D premium). You still pay the Part B premium, which is $202.90 a month in 2026; the 2027 amount is announced around November 2026. Source: CMS 2027 Landscape file.
Is Platte Valley Hospital in Brighton in Medicare Advantage networks?
It depends on the plan. Intermountain Health Platte Valley Hospital (1600 Prairie Center Parkway) carries a 3 out of 5 CMS overall rating, but network status is set plan by plan and can change each year. Before you enroll, Lisa checks the hospital and your doctors against each plan you are considering for 2027.
My Brighton address is in Weld County. Which plans can I choose?
Medicare Advantage plans are approved by county, so a Brighton address in the Weld County part of the city uses the Weld County list, which has fewer plans than Adams County for 2027. The county on your address decides; Lisa confirms it before any comparison.
What changes for Medicare plans in Brighton in 2027?
Counting Medicare Advantage plans with drug coverage, Special Needs Plans included, Adams County goes from 64 plans in 2026 to 59 in 2027. (The headline count of 36 plans on this page leaves out Special Needs Plans and includes plans without drug coverage, which is why the numbers differ.) The CMS crosswalk shows 8 plans ending with no similar plan in the county, 4 plans ending while the same company offers a plan with the same or a similar name under a new plan ID (members must enroll in it themselves), 3 plans folding into another plan automatically, and 10 new plans. Clear Spring Health has no Medicare Advantage plan with drug coverage in Adams County for 2027. Your plan’s Annual Notice of Change lists what changes for you on January 1.
What does local data say about health coverage in Brighton?
Census figures (ACS 2020 to 2024 5-year estimates) show 10.1% of Brighton residents with no health insurance, against 7.7% for Colorado. People under 65 can shop for coverage on Connect for Health Colorado, the state’s own marketplace; open enrollment for 2027 coverage starts November 1, 2026.

How the figures are derived
- Headline plan counts and averages exclude Special Needs Plans, which have their own eligibility rules and are reported separately.
- "$0 Part C premium" counts plans whose Part C premium is $0. "$0 combined monthly premium for Parts C and D" counts plans whose consolidated Part C + D premium is $0 (for a plan without drug coverage, its Part C premium); our guides and blog use this second count. Out-of-pocket limits are in-network amounts. The average Part D deductible covers plans with drug coverage only.
- The 2026 to 2027 comparison counts Medicare Advantage plans with drug coverage, Special Needs Plans included, and its "$0" row uses the combined Part C + D premium, so it differs from the headline count.
- When the CMS crosswalk ends a plan with no successor but the same company files a plan with the same or a similar name under a new plan ID, we say so; members are not moved into the new ID automatically.
- We do not publish per-plan enrollment: the source does not carry it, and we never estimate plan figures.
